River Nene Cottages river approach to Water Newton Lock and our venue
Guests who have booked with us will have received the following information in an email immediately upon booking and we invite guests to acquaint themselves of these details again here:-

"Here is some important arrival information for you.  We have elderly neighbours and guests often drive onto their property due to not reading these arrival instructions.

Please confirm your ETA on the day of your arrival so we may keep an eye out for you and meet you with the keys for the cottage.

WATER NEWTON VILLAGE.

Upon arrival into Water Newton turn into Mill Lane.  Water Newton does not have any other roads in it other than Mill Lane and the Great North Road you will have turned onto from the A1.

RIVER NENE COTTAGES' ENTRANCE.

The entrance to River Nene Cottages is through the white gates you'll see directly in front of you as you drive down Mill Lane.  Please pull up closely to the gates and they will open automatically for you before 9pm.  Sat Navs have a habit of taking drivers around beyond these white gates to the end of the lane, so if you find yourself staring at the river, you have gone too far and will need to backtrack to the white gates where you will see signage for the cottages on the right-hand side of the gates.

Our house is the first house on the left as you drive down the gravel driveway and the cottages are directly opposite (first on the right).

PLEASE DO NOT GO BEYOND THE BROWN FIELD GATE TOWARDS THE END OF THE COTTAGE BUILDING.

That goes into our neighbour's garden and is therefore their private property.

CHECK IN is between 3pm and 9pm

&

CHECK OUT is by 11am.

This allows sufficient cleaning time for the cottages, between guests.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU.

The cottages are fully self contained and equipped with most home comforts, which include the essentials, crockery, cutlery, glassware as well as bed linen and both bath and hand towels.  In season, please bring your own pool towels. Regarding consumables, to get you started, we'll provide a few tea bags, some coffee and sugar, a couple of loo rolls, a handful of dishwasher tablets and some washing up liquid.  Beyond that, please bring any consumables you think you'll need for your stay.  This may include kitchen roll, your own glass and plate cleaning cloths and sponges, shampoo and bodywash, dvds and games.  You may also want to add salt, pepper, spices, cooking oil and so on, onto your "to bring" list.  If it helps, please remember that we are self catering holiday cottages and the clue lies right there.

DAMAGE  & CLEANING DEPOSIT .

Since we opened our doors eight years ago we have been very relaxed about implementing our damages/cleaning deposit policy. For the most part, this has worked well for us and our guests, but there are exceptions I'm afraid and going forward, we will be asking all our guests for the cash deposit of £125.  For group bookings, this is per cottage I'm afraid and we hope you understand.  This will be due upon arrival and will cover damage/breakages and any costs associated with cleaning the cottage if it is left in a filthy state.  Should there be no damage/breakages and if the cottage is in a respectable condition upon departure, we will very happily return your deposit immediately.

NON-STAYING GUESTS ON SITE.

Regarding non staying guests visiting you at the cottage, please may you confirm this is possible with us prior to inviting them so we can arrange parking and obtain names and addresses of non staying guests for both insurance and safety purposes.  Non staying guests are only welcome to enjoy the gardens with yourselves, provided we've agreed this beforehand so we can ensure there's no interference with any of our other staying guests who obviously have priority.  Non staying guests do not have access to the swimming pool.  We aim to keep our facilities as exclusive as possible for those who are staying with us.

PETS.

We welcome pets on the basis that this has been arranged with us prior to making your reservation.

WHAT TO DO/WHERE TO GO.

Please take a look at our website : https://www.rivernenecottages.co.uk for local information, restaurant ideas and other ideas for things to do locally.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask and we will help where possible. We can be contacted on +44 (0) 7778 625 166. We look forward to welcoming you when you arrive!"

An additional note on...

PARKING

We have to keep the driveway clear of any obstructions as we share the driveway with 2 other properties.  Offloading and packing up cars outside the cottages is fine but for the needs of our neighbours and the Emergency Services, we must keep the driveway clear of cars.  You will be directed where to park upon your arrival when we meet and greet you.

...many thanks.
