OUR STORY.
Originally from Zimbabwe we moved to Mill House in 2012 having spent 15 years in London after leaving Zimbabwe in 1999. It took us two years to acquire the three cottages that were once part of Mill House. We then undertook the project of bringing them up to date with new bathrooms, refreshed kitchens with new white goods, and new decor. We opened our doors on 16th February 2016 and have since enjoyed seeing our guests marvel, relax and enjoy what we have created for them here on the river.
We feel we are "A Great Alternative to a Hotel" as over the last few years a number of guests who have previously book with a local hotel commented on how much better it was staying with us.
We provide a very interactive and personal service with all of our guests akin to the way hotels operate. As the cottages are within the grounds of our house we are always on hand to address our guests' needs pretty much 24/7. When staying with us you will see why we don't like to venture away from this beautiful riverside setting: traditional stone buildings, a lovely river and an 11th century church vista right next door.
We love meeting new guests and look forward to hosting our numerous returning guests as we move forward in these very uncertain times.
Our very best wishes,
Philip & Stephen.
River Nene Cottages are three self catering holiday cottages hosted in an old Grade 2 Listed converted barn that was originally built in 1805. We are located on the banks of the River Nene (Lock 29) in the small hamlet of Water Newton just outside Peterborough and just off the A1 heading north towards Wansford and Stamford, Lincolnshire.
Unlike most holiday cottages, due to our location, we operate a more flexible booking policy of 3 night minimum stays during our peak season and 2 nights during the quieter months.
Our grounds run to about 3/4 of an acre with extensive riverside lawns. We also have a seasonally heated swimming pool that is for cottage guests only.
